LP Review : The Specials - Self-Titled (2 Tones Records)

Got myself this authentic vinyl today with a very affordable price. Even though it's a second-hand item, but it spins perfectly with minor bumpy noises and it still sounds so nice. The Specials is considered one of the bands that was signed to 2 Tones Records, a label that responsible to instigate a cross-culture movement of Punk Ska. Surprisingly this band is still active up until today. After more than 40 years, they still manage to preserve the kind of music that they hold so dear.

This 1979 album is one of the materials produced by the 2 Tone Records that define the original sound of British Ska. There are many ska bands that shines within the British mainstream music during that era such as Bad Manners, The English Beats, The Selecter and Madness but nothing compares to the energetic sounds from The Specials.

Produced by Elvis Costello (UK's one of the best rock and roll producers and husband to a Jazz singer, Diana Krall), this album is still consider one of people's favourite ska albums of all time.

I'm not sure if this is a first press vinyl, but I can tell that this was made in UK. Not a pirated item for sure.
